Determining molecular geometry |

The stepwise process of determining molecular geometry. |
Notes: |
The molecular geometry of a molecule is a function of the number of species bonding to the central atom. Electron groups, either bonds or lone pairs, will spread themselves out as far as possible. The geometry of these species is called the electron group geometry. The location of the atoms, while ignoring the lone pairs, dictates the molecular geometry. |
